Today marks
eight weeks since my injury. My knee is feeling much more stable. It’s still
sore and swollen though. However, I’m moving quicker and feel like I have more
range of motion. I haven’t worn my brace at all. One thing that is really
bothering me is that my right quad has atrophied really bad. It looks like there
is no muscle mass whatsoever.
I went to
the dojo I train at today to watch class, and after speaking with some of the
others there about their injuries, I don’t feel so bad. One guy broke his hip
and was out of karate for two-months. Another had blown his knee and had to get
surgery. One broke his jaw at least a year ago and is just now getting back to
sparring. I have to understand that injuries take time to heal and that this
isn’t going to last forever. I will get back to where I was, maybe even better
next time around.
