I went to my office/dojo today and worked with relative ease
until around hour 10, in which I may have pushed a little too far. I need to
get a better grasp on my limits and how much energy I actually do have. My body
is in over-drive right now taking care of the trauma from my injury so I’m not
going to be able to pull off 12-hour days like I used to, nor do I ever want to
go back to that.
I received an
Ortho-bionomy session which really helped my knee feel better. The therapist
also helped my left foot and right wrist so I ended up with a two-for-one. That
was pretty cool. I also got the Cadillac of knee braces and started using
crutches pretty much full time to take the weight off my leg. I’ve been walking
around like an idiot up until today, when I got my ass chewed about the
importance of not being an idiot. I was also loaned an ice machine which has
been a real help to cool down the knee.
Richard has been an amazing help. In one way, he’s really
getting a taste of everything I do around our office/dojo and our house. It’s
funny to watch him struggle with small tasks like feeding the dogsJ. In another way, he’s
stepped up big time and taken on so much responsibility which allows me to
rest. As much as I want to jump in and help, I’m physically unable and he’s
been a real trooper about it. We haven’t argued at all and he’s making me laugh
again.
There are a few people who are seriously pissed about what
happened. Over the course of the week, I’ve asked them to please keep their
opinions to themselves, as I can’t have that negative energy hanging around.
Could’ve, should’ve, would’ve – what’s done is done and there is nowhere to go
but forward from here.
Oh god, I had to wear one of those things. I don't know if it is the same for fit people, but as a fat person, it was constantly sliding down my leg. I hated that thing with a passion.
ReplyDeleteI ended up with an ACL that was snapped all the way through- no hope of healing that. It isn't the kind of thing that will re-grow itself. I got a cadaver graft.
The worst was recovering from surgery, wearing it 24-7, and then finally when I was able to take it off... I had to get the thing back on myself so that I could go to the bathroom. That was hellish.
Of course they charged an ungodly amount of money for it, too.
