Watch Where You Stick Those Needles!

August 28, 2013

I saw Dr. Xiao again. My range of motion is improving daily and he’s able to move my knee farther and farther. He continues to stress taking it slow and easing back in to things, especially with my choice to forgo surgery. After my Tui Na massage and treatment session, he did the usual acupuncture. I’ve never take a picture of it, but today Richard went with me so he was able to capture some images. The needles are mostly placed around my knee joint, tibia and IT band. He also puts one in between the big and second toes and in the webs my hands between the thumb and pointer finger. If he thinks I’m stressed out that day, he’ll put one smack dab in the middle of my forehead.

Our Tai Chi instructor brought in an infrared heat lamp for me to borrow, so during sparring class, I heated my knee and heckled from the peanut gallery. Man, I wish I could get back on the mat! This blows.

More Confidence of Healing Naturally

August 27, 2013

I hit the gym again today and did upper body. My knee, which was really sore this morning, called all resources upstairs to assist with the freaking crazy exercises my upper body was doing so I was able to take my mind off the pain for about an hour.

I received another Ortho-bionomy session, and by the end, I was feeling great.

Besides my muscles being sore and stiff, my knee feels great and I have all the confidence that it will be healed entirely going au naturale!

Loving Restorative Yoga

August 26, 2013

Had an interesting meeting this morning with the person we found out defamed us on Yelp. That was exhilarating. Afterwards, I went to my office/dojo and caught up on work. The Back Rub Company has been crazy busy and I’m soooo grateful for that! I was also able to spend a lot of time with the kids today.

My knee has been really sore, probably because of the class from Saturday. I took my second Restorative Yoga class. We did legs up the wall and I could totally tell a difference between my left and right leg. I had a hard time extending my right leg. It’s like it’s ‘stuck.’ I really can’t explain it any other way. I hope it heals up soon. Otherwise, the class is always so relaxing and just what I need.

First Class Since Injury

August 24, 2013

Today marks six weeks since my injury. I attended my first martial arts class since that time. Wow, talk about stabilizer muscles! My knee was trying to figure out what the hell was happening. Of course, I wore my brace but it seems like I still have a long way to go.

This evening, I attended a tournament banquet with our dojo. It was great to see our kids receive awards for the point year. What a huge accomplishment for each of them!

Cardio Complete

August 23, 2013

I did mini-step-ups, squats and one-leg bicep curls at the gym this morning. My knee held up great. I have been really worried about how to get my cardio in since my legs have been pretty much unusable. Well, today I used the battle ropes. Holy crap! There’s my cardio.

I also got my hair done today. It’s been soooo long and it felt great to finally get a cut and color. Afterwards, I went to see Dr. Xiao. My range of motion was amazing today. I really do feel like I’m getting stronger and my knee is getting better. I’m getting stoked for my prolotherapy treatment next Friday.
