I saw Dr. Xiao again. My range of
motion is improving daily and he’s able to move my knee farther and farther. He
continues to stress taking it slow and easing back in to things, especially
with my choice to forgo surgery. After my Tui Na massage and treatment session,
he did the usual acupuncture. I’ve never take a picture of it, but today
Richard went with me so he was able to capture some images. The needles are
mostly placed around my knee joint, tibia and IT band. He also puts one in
between the big and second toes and in the webs my hands between the thumb and pointer
finger. If he thinks I’m stressed out that day, he’ll put one smack dab in the
middle of my forehead.
Our Tai Chi instructor brought in an
infrared heat lamp for me to borrow, so during sparring class, I heated my knee
and heckled from the peanut gallery. Man, I wish I could get back on the mat!
This blows.
