Today marks 31-days since I tore my
ACL.
I decided to work from home, as I
figured that Richard and I could use a break from each other. God love him but
we’re about ready to rip each other’s eyeballs out. I’ve been sitting at my
dining room table plugging away all day. By the way, I’m still in my jammies
and I haven’t taken a shower or brushed my teeth, and it’s 6:50pm. Gotta love
working from home!
My knee has felt good today and
I’ve been walking around with…gasp… just my compression brace (don’t tell my
resident PT, she’d kill me). I know I’m making fun now but I probably won’t be
laughing if I lose my balance or take a wrong step and fall on my ass.
I have one more month until I hit
my goal date of September 16, in which I plan to pick up where I left off with
my life (although I’ve had many revelations that will keep me from doing
exactly what I was), but I’ve come to a bit of a stand-still as I’ve been
bouncing around the idea of what to do next for a couple weeks now. I’m still
getting Ortho-bionomy and seeing Dr. Xiao, plus doing my PT exercises. But I’ve
had this feeling of “what now?”
Well, that question was answered
today. I received a call from Dr. Timothy Peace. He is a client of a friend of
mine and I’ve actually visited his practice twice when another friend was seeing
him as a patient. He does stem cell therapy (average cost is around $7,500) and
also performs prolotherapy and PRP (average cost is around $250). Unlike stem
cell therapy that takes cells from your hip bone, prolotherapy and PRP takes
plasma from your blood. It is then injected in to the injured or sore area to
aggravate the tissue and create a catalyst for the tissue to heal.
First of all, how many doctors do
you know that have actually called a patient out of the blue? Also, he spent at
least 30-minutes on the phone with me answering all of my questions. We decided
to try the prolo. He told me that I would know within one to two injections if
it was working or not. If not, no need to drag it out. If it is, I could be
back in the swing of things in no time.
My appointment for my first
injection is Friday, August 30.
That's where the injections will go |
